Mansfield Road 1-7 Cropredy Reserves Oxfordshire Senior League Div 2 Saturday 17th February 2018

For the second Saturday in a row Cropredy Reserves chalked up an impressive 7 goals, though unlike last week's ding-dong game against Horspath they did concede less!

From the off Cropredy started on the front foot and took the game to Mansfield Road. Will Hicks slotted the ball through to Daley, who squared the it to Ryan Carter, he made no mistake from a yard out giving the away side the lead. Then Hicks scored himself, a threaded through ball with the goalie to beat he slotted it past him to double the lead. Ryan Paynton making his debut made it 0-3, up for a corner a towering header flew past the students stranded keeper. Skipper for the day Sean Dineen putting in a MOM performance in the middle of the park, set up he 4th goal, laying the ball to Hicks who slammed in his second of the game. 15 minutes of the game played and the free scoring Reserves found themselves four goals to the good. Mansfield Road got a goal back just before the half time whistle, a great save from Jordan Reynolds fell at the feet of the home sides striker who tapped, making it 1-4 at the break.

Cropredy began the second half as they did the first, Will Hicks had his hat-trick (deja vu from last week), nipping in at the back stick from a corner Hicks made it 1-5. Then it was the turn of the Cropredy local lads Timothy Bennett and Joe Fox (both suffering with hangovers) combining to make it 6! Bennett laying the ball onto Fox for a cheeky toe poke into the net. Then Ishmael Liverpool came off the bench to complete the scoring, he skipped past the Mansfield Road full back before his powerful shot (or maybe it was a cross!) eluded the keeper as he pushed it into his own net.

Another emphatic performance from the Reserves, Will Hicks with 2 hat-tricks in 2 games as they move up to 2nd spot in Division 2.
