Freeland 0-8 Cropredy Oxfordshire Senior League, Premier Division Saturday, October 17

Cropredy turned in a dominant display away to Freeland on Saturday in the Oxfordshire Senior League Premier Division, keeping their first clean sheet of the season and romping to an 8-0 win with Joe Squirrel and Aaron Dineen hitting hat-tricks.

On a lovely afternoon for football, the game almost got off to the perfect start for Cropredy when in the opening minute Aaron Dineen went through on goal after a defender misjudged a header, as the ball rose on the bounce Dineen hit a fierce effort but the keeper did well to make himself big and turn the effort away. After the almost perfect start Cropredy settled into the game, comfortable in possession looking to force an opening as Freeland got men behind the ball looking to catch Crop on the break.

The first goal of the game came just before the half an hour with Joe Squirrel getting his first of the afternoon with a great individual goal, picking the ball up 30 yards from goal, Squirrel beat two defenders before advancing into the box and sliding the ball past the onrushing keeper.

Cropredy seized the opportunity to take a commanding lead by following up the first goal with two more quick ones to install a 3-goal lead before the break. Aaron Dineen added a second when Squirrel turned provider and squared for him to roll home.

Squirrel then added a third soon after following good work down the right from Dan Reeves, Reeves cross was met by Squirrel who volley home and extend the visitors advantage.

Crop picked up where they finished the first half, within minutes of the restart they made it 4-0 as Joe Squirrels completed his hat-trick, Aaron Dineen broke down the left and crossed to Squirrel at the back post who rose high to head back down and across the keeper into the corner of the net.

Cropredy pressed well from the front and didn't allow Freeland to advance with the ball when they had it from the back, with the pressure mounting a Freeland defender under-hit a pass back to the keeper which Aaron Dineen latched onto before rounding the keeper and rolling in the ball into an empty net.

The sixth arrived via the penalty spot, Mike Spaull got in front of his man and took a touch with the challenge bringing him down just inside the box to earn Crop the spot kick. Skipper Chris Horn, without a goal in about 30 plus games strode forward and confidently placed the ball on the spot before sending the keeper the wrong way.

Lewis Locker was next to get on the score sheet when the ball broke loose on the edge of the box Locker unleashed a fierce left footed drive into the corner that had too much power for the keeper.

The scoring finished up with a couple of minutes remaining when good press down the left from Jack Welch forced the right back to go home to the keeper, Aaron Dineen was again on hand to nip in just ahead of the keeper and slot home to complete his hat trick.

Despite the score line, the Freeland keeper pulled of a number of good saves throughout the 90 minutes and certainly deserves credit for his performance on the day.

A dominant display from Crop, all 15 members of the squad contributing to the win and turning in good performances to build on last week's win.

The same and more will be needed as we move onto next week with a difficult home tie against in form Bure Park, who travel to Williamscot Road after a superb opening to the season having won all 5 of their games.
