New Development team Manager in place ahead of the 23/24 Season

We are delighted to announce Shane Bailey as the new Manager of our Development Side ahead of the new season.

Shane has had success in youth football spending many years managing sides at Bodicote Sports and Halse United, before then moving into the adult’s game, managing Easington Sports Development last season to a 5th place finish in the Hellenic Division Two North.

Having introduced plenty of young players to the adult’s game during his season at Easington, and the experience Shane already has working with some of our young players already at the club, it’s the ideal fit for the club.

Shane had a few words to say about his appointment, and how Cropredy fits with his ambitions, “I have a passion for succession planning, bringing through young talent, developing them, to help them play at the highest level possible. Cropredy is a good fit for me and my passion for youth development. The club has the ambition to continue developing the youngsters that allows them to progress within the club.”

The Cropredy Development side had a pleasing season last year, establishing themselves in the OSL Division One, with a young squad, many of whom we hope can push on to be part of the First team set up this coming season.

On the appointment, Chairman Lawrence O’Sullivan said, “I am delighted with the appointment of Shane Bailey, as manager of our Development Team. Shane has extensive experience working with younger players and has a passion for developing them, which fits neatly into our club ethos.

Following discussions with Shane it was clear that his philosophy fits with ours, with so many talented young players already at the club (whilst also pursuing more) alongside a core of experienced players is the way forward. I feel he is a good fit to work alongside the current management team and these are exciting times at Williamscot Road, ahead of pre-season.”

Welcome Shane.

Izzy Liverpool will continue in a player/coach capacity with the Devs side this season. An important cog of the development side, not just as a player, but using his experience in mentoring and developing the young players at the club.

Plans for next season are well underway, and we look forward to starting back for pre-season training later this month before friendlies begin from mid-July onwards.
